The Aftermath

Posted by Seeking Solace |

We survived the Visit.  And, it actually went well.

Husband and I spent the days leading up to Christmas Eve getting the house ready for our guests. Lots of cleaning and preparation. Everything was ready by noon on Christmas Eve. We were able to enjoy Christmas Eve and Christmas Day before the guests arrived on the 26th.

We told them that "check in' time would be after 2 p.m. as we had things to do that morning. Totally not true. We just wanted some calm before the storm. Our guest arrived by 3 p.m. We had snacks ready for them. We visited for a while, went to dinner out and then to a movie. That took care of Thursday night. Friday, everyone slept late, which helped.  We played cards for about two hours. BFF's kids (They are in college) brought the skate boards and rode some of the hills in our neighborhood. Soon it was time for dinner, which was pizza and wings. We headed to a hockey game, which was BFF's daughter's Christmas gift from her dad. We had a great time. Slept in late this morning and everyone was gone by 1 p.m.

BFF's kids were very polite and respectful. They did not do anything that raised any eyebrows. I counted the beer in the fridge each morning and none was touched. They said 'please" and "thank yo" and engaged with Husband and I. They also loved Junior. And Junior loved the attention.

Before our guests showed up, Husband and I were expecting the worst and hoping for the best. I guess it was because we didn't want to be let down by the visit. It was just better to be pleasantly surprised then shocked and pissed off.  Needless to say, we are both tired. We napped most of the afternoon, Junior included. It is quiet in the house again.

I am glad the past few days went well. Everyone had a good time, even Husband and I enjoyed ourselves. My house is amazingly clean. I have enough leftovers for a few more days. It's all good.

But, there is no way in hell that I will allow this to happen again.
