I used to be the queen of the very high, pointy toe heels. I could teach, run up and down stairs without any issues, just like Stacey on What Not to Wear. I love the pointy toe because it lengthens the leg line. At 5'4" on a good day, it makes feel good to look taller. Also, the round toe shoes make my feet look stubby (I am a 7 1/2 with narrow heels).
With the RA making walking difficult, I had to make some changes to my shoe collection. Gone are my 3-4 inch heels. I replaced them with flats and heels no higher than 2 1/4 inches. Also, I have to watch on size because of the joints in my feet can swell if there I have a flair. (I know, I should be wearing pointy toe shoes, but remember, your toes do not go into the point. If they do, get another shoe.) Oh, and I am taking my Ugg slippers with me to work. After being on my feet, I can sit behind my desk in total comfort.
Today, I bought these flats in black. It's a nice basic flat that will go with anything. I also purchased these slingbacks. (Same store as the flats, there just wasn't a pic online). I saw some other cute shoes, but I will need to do some inventory before I go crazy on shoes.
The shoe therapy was exactly what I needed. I am in a much better mood.

Gorgeous shoes! I just finished clearing out shoes in my closet again (did it last year and gave away 22 pairs of shoes and boots). This time I kept my dress and work flats and two pairs of low heels. I may never wear them again but they fit and feel decent so I have them "just in case" :-) Enjoy your new shoes!!
Excellent!
The Clarks Indigo line is really comfy and some of the shoes are really cute. I love the pair I have. I can spend most of the day on my feet and still feel fine. Despite grad student poverty, shoes are one thing I will spend money on. I'd rather have fewer pairs of well-built comfortable shoes than lots of junk.
By default, I love nearly anything red so I LOVE the flats. Unfortunately I need black pumps and haven't found anything perfect...but those slingbacks? got me thinking! Wish you could shop with me!
Rented Life: Wish I could shop with you too!! Try Bandalino pumps. They are comfy and classic. You can find them at Macy's or DSW. BTW, NY and Co have some cute stuff right now!
K8 and Geeka: I love Clark's. I was just looking at a couple pair from the Indigo collection on Zappo's.
Very cute! Shoes always make me feel better. :)
