Last night, Husband and I watched a documentary on Animal Planet called The Wolf Within. It discussed how dogs have evolved from their wolf ancestors and showed the similarities between the wolf pack and the "family pack". Of course, the Boy was mesmerized by the show. Actually, anytime there is a dog on the TV, he sits in front of the TV and watches the screen, cocking his head from side to side.
At one point in the show, there were scenes of the wolf pack, howling to each other. This was to show communication among the pack members. The same can be said of dogs, when they whine or yip at us.
Suddenly, and without any prompting from us, the Boy stood up and threw his head back...
AWOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Husband and I were stunned. We had never seen the Boy do that!
I guess he just proved the point. In every dog, there is a wolf within.

- I am a college professor who is fumbling through the chaos of academia, rheumatoid arthritis, working on my PhD and just being a 40 something woman. I used to be a lawyer, which made me a snarky little person. I have a wonderful Husband and a German Shepherd named Junior. They help keep me sane.

Aweseome. Reconnecting to his roots. ;)
I think I know what he was saying...he wants to join the pack! Of course he wants you both to come too, so that might be a bit of a problem. haha ;-)
I just heard a commercial for a PBS TV show. It's called, Nature : "Dogs That Changed the World: The Rise of the Dog"
It's on this evening in my area at 7 p.m. Check it out on your TV schedule.
Here is a link with more info.

Btw, I love the new look of your blog! :)
I used to have a cat who would watch documentaries on TV so long as they were about big cats. Then he'd sit, cross his paws and watch. He loved it. No howling, though.
