I Have A New Job!

Posted by Seeking Solace |

I am so excited. I have accepted a new position with a wonderful organization. Granted, it's only one day a week and the pay is zero.

So what am I doing?

I am a social-behavioral specialist. I will be working with individuals who need special attention and help integrating into society.

I am not talking about criminals or college students...

I am working with CATS!!!!

That's right, I am volunteering at the Boy's daycare! In addition to providing daycare and training for dogs, the owner of the facility works with cats from the local SPCA who need special attention before they can be placed for adoption.

So, one day a week, I get to play with kitties!!!!

WOOHOO, or should I say ME-OOWWW!!!!!!

That *does* sound like fun...But I've always been worried that it would be too hard to work in an animal shelter because I'd want to take all the kitties home (and I can't b/c Super G is very allergic). Do you worry about that?

Yay! Congratulations! I thought the same thing that Ianqui said- can you resist bringing them home?? Would the Boy like a feline pal?

Inaqui and Addy N.: I would love to take a kitty home, but Husband is allergic to cats. The Boy is oblivious to them.

So, now I will get my kitty fix!

That sounds like fun! You'll be doing a really good thing for the poor dears -- they often really want socialization, but have had bad luck with people.

Congrats! At our humane society they call the position a "Kitten Cuddler." I've always wanted to apply.
