New Read

Posted by Seeking Solace |

I finished James Patterson’s “Mary, Mary” the other day. Great read. For all you Patterson fans…this is one Alex Cross story that doesn’t suck. I am going to read “The 5th Horseman” next.

The one thing about Patterson books is that they are fast reads. So, does anyone out there have any suggestions on good books? I am locking for something to take to Aruba. Nothing to deep though…I’m on vacation! I do like mysteries-psychological thrillers. The kind of books that mess with your head and you are afraid to go to sleep. But I am open to anything, except cheesy romance novels!

Shout out to B*: Any news on your Hammie????

hi! thanks for asking. unfortunately, I have not found my hamster. he is not falling for the traps I have set, nor has he tried to eat the food I have left out. :( I am starting to believe I will not find him.

Thanks for asking.

As far as books, for fun reads I recommend anything by Jennifer Weiner.

In the past year, I discovered John Lescroart's legal/police series and have read every one of them. You really should start at the beginning, since the two main characters develop a lot over time. I'm not sure how accurate all the legal stuff is (might drive you crazy if it's not ;))

I'm a pretty big Jodi Piccoult fan -- "My Sister's Keeper" was really good -- so good in fact that I gave it for extra-credit in my ethics class. She and another one about an Amish family that was really good --(I don't recall the name) and her most recent was "Disapearing Acts" --- which wasn't as good as "My Sister's Keeper, but still was good.

I like to read stuff set in the area -- or something similar. Carl Hiasaan (I'm not sure about the spelling) writes some great stuff set in Florida. They are kind of mysteries -- and are very funny and sarcastic.

If you like comedy - I just read Margaret Cho's newest book and loved it.

I also really like the JD Robb mystery series (even before Nora Roberts came out as the author - I never would've started a Nora Roberts mystery series) - I think there's like a dozen of these now.

Laurie Notaro is a funny essayist a la David Seraris (the chick version) - a hint is that her posse of friends from when she was growing up are "the idiot girls"

I love Dan Savage (The Kid and The Commitment are my 2 faves)

Let me see what else I can think of...
