If I could be anywhere, where would I be?
If I could be anywhere, it would be a beach. The beach has always been my "happy place". As long as I have the sound of the waves crashing against the shore, my beach chair, a cool liquid beverage and something to read, I'm good. There is something soothing about the sound of waves crashing and the smell in the air at the beach. For me, time stands still. I have no demands, no pressures. I can actually fall asleep while sitting in my chair at the beach, which is quite amazing since I've always had sleeping issues. But, I sleep very soundly, very well.
Also, and this does sound quite vain, but what is it about the beach that makes my hair just so awesomely soft and wavy, rather than the hot mess that it normally is? Even if it's humid, my hair looks fabulous! Someone needs to figure out how to bottle up whatever it is to make hair look awesome and sell it.
The great thing about living in Elsewhere is that I am two hours from the beach. We can actually take a day or a long weekend and just hang out. Sadly, we have not done that as much as we would like. I suppose it's the not making it a priority thing, like so many other things.
This December, Husband and I will be taking a huge beach vacation at Christmas. We are going to Hawaii. We had planned to go in July to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. When Husband lost his job back in April, we didn't think that spending money on a huge vacation when we didn't know when he would get another job was a good idea. Thankfully, Husband got another job in July, so we are back on track to celebrate. Since this is our second trip, we are looking at Kauai.
I can hear the waves crashing now.

About Me

- Seeking Solace
- I am a college professor who is fumbling through the chaos of academia, rheumatoid arthritis, working on my PhD and just being a 40 something woman. I used to be a lawyer, which made me a snarky little person. I have a wonderful Husband and a German Shepherd named Junior. They help keep me sane.
