It's my second RA flare in two months. I can totally blame it on my crazy work schedule. It is also why I have not blogged for a while.
I worked four 12 hour days this week. We had the perfect storm of stress at work this week. It is the beginning of the term, we are getting a visit from Big Brother on Monday (Big Brother is the accrediting body) and I had to meet with the advisory committee for my program. Each would be stressing by themselves, but put them all together and you have an axis of insanity.
Needless to say, the RA decided to flare up on Thursday. Friday, I had to drag myself to work for final preparations for Big Brother. I had to hold back tears of pain as I pecked away at my computer. All my colleagues and the Dean did what they could to help me, despite being bombarded with their own preparations.
I broke down a started a steroid treatment. I hate doing it, but I know it is one of the few things that will help me get through the next few days. That and lots of rest this weekend. No break from the insanity until Thursday.

- Seeking Solace
- I am a college professor who is fumbling through the chaos of academia, rheumatoid arthritis, working on my PhD and just being a 40 something woman. I used to be a lawyer, which made me a snarky little person. I have a wonderful Husband and a German Shepherd named Junior. They help keep me sane.

Many hugs - I hope this flare up passes soon
Hate that you're going through this. The steroids should help through this stress. Hope you're getting a bit of rest this weekend.
Thanks everyone. I am feeling much better. I am on day 2 of treatment, plus I got lots of rest today. And, the Boy was there to snuggle!
