I just returned from Conference City after a short visit with friends on the way back to Elsewhere. It was a great conference and an even better time visiting with old friends. The best part was that Husband went with me on this trip. He amused himself quite well while I was conferencing.
The conference was sponsored by one of the accreditation bodies for my program. Everyone was so nice and friendly. I met so many wonderful people and also got some great information to take back to my college.
But it also left me with some questions about things that were done prior to my working at the college. I have a feeling that things may be AFU. The good news is that I have some great new allies who are more than willing to lend a hand.
One our way back to Elsewhere yesterday, we stopped in Nascar City to visit with friends who used to be our neighbors back in LES. We had a blast grilling and eating outside, just like we did back in the day. They have a Wii system. We played "Rock Band" which is much harder than it looks. I did quite well as the lead singer, but my drumming was a bit off. My defense is that the songs did not have a good rhythm beat. We also played Wii boxing. bowling and home run challenge. Husband kicked butt in the Home Run challenge. I have a feeling a Wii system will be on our shopping list in the future.
The best part is I got the bread I needed. Prior to leaving for the trip, I was quite exhausted. Tomorrow, it's back to the grind. But, I am rested and ready to go.

- Seeking Solace
- I am a college professor who is fumbling through the chaos of academia, rheumatoid arthritis, working on my PhD and just being a 40 something woman. I used to be a lawyer, which made me a snarky little person. I have a wonderful Husband and a German Shepherd named Junior. They help keep me sane.

Glad the trip went well. It's nice to have time to stop and visit friends along the way!
Good luck with the reorganization.
It's kind of icky to do that kind of clean-up, but -- since it happened before you got there, and you'll have the help of some folks outside, I'm sure you can get it fixed.
