I received an offer with the legal document research firm. They have an office in the city located in Target State that Husband and I want to move. Basically, it's a temp-contact position. Not ideal, but it would get me started.
And, a big "THANK YOU" to everyone who took the time to respond to my dilemma with the college I interviewed with last week. I have taken all of your comments seriously and weighed them all carefully. My gut is saying to let this one go. My gut is right 99.9% of the time. Besides, I think it would be harder to run once I am in there.
But...
I am not completely happy about the job offer. I could do it, but it's not what I really want. I know that beggars can't be choosy in this economy. I should be happy that I got an offer to do something.
I am still holding out a little for an academic position that I want. I have step up my game in hustling those who have not responded. Let the stalking begin.
ETA: Just to clarify. The teaching position that I wrote about the the job that I have reservations about. I have not received an offer for that one yet. I am OK with the document job, although not overly thrilled.

- I am a college professor who is fumbling through the chaos of academia, rheumatoid arthritis, working on my PhD and just being a 40 something woman. I used to be a lawyer, which made me a snarky little person. I have a wonderful Husband and a German Shepherd named Junior. They help keep me sane.

I am a firm believer in going with your gut. Congratulations on getting an offer, even if you end up not taking it. The very, very best of luck in getting what you want!!!
Somehow I missed the problem with the university in Target State but I agree that going with your gut works the best.
I truly hope you get the academic position you want and deserve but it has to feel good to at least have a back-up to get you started. Let's hope you don't have to use it.
Congratulations on the job offer and may your academic job stalking be fruitful. :)
Sorry I missed the problem as well. Too much facebook!
Congrats on the offer but I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for the other position for you!
Congrats again, and I understand your thoughts. It is not what you *really* want, but it is better than nothing. Additionally, it will give you another notch in your skill set.
All the best with the upcoming stalking tactics!
Congrats on the offer! Hope even better ones come your way soon.
