There was a letter in the mailbox from the IRS with Economic Stimulus on the back. Since we owed the Feds this year, I assumed that our rebate would be in check form, rather than direct deposit.
No, it was a letter entitled "Understanding Your Stimulus Payment."
What is there to understand?

About Me
- Seeking Solace
- I am a college professor who is fumbling through the chaos of academia, rheumatoid arthritis, working on my PhD and just being a 40 something woman. I used to be a lawyer, which made me a snarky little person. I have a wonderful Husband and a German Shepherd named Junior. They help keep me sane.

we give you money. seems pretty simple.
One would think so. I wonder how much that mailing is going to cost us.
I know! I got one of these in the mail last week... so obnoxious. This is the second of two mailings on this topic. It's so silly to pay all of this postage (TWICE?!?) to tell us that we get money. DUMB.
I got my cash deposited on Friday. Half of it went to pay for new glasses (almost $300!), because I used my insurance for contacts.
I got that letter and was wondering the same thing. Seems like a simple enough concept, huh? :)
They want people to understand why they're getting the amount they're getting. Plus, a lot of folks might not read the newspaper or watch the news, so they might not know they're even getting some money. Also, if you issue a mailing saying people are going to get money, and then actually give them money, you get twice the political benefit! It's like giving them the money twice.
Ugh. I really hate stuff like that.
Arbitrista: Ah yes, I forgot the political spin!
we got that letter a week AFTER we got the rebate.
