Last night, there was this three hour police stand-off on one of the outer loop highways in Lake Effect Snow Central. This happened during rush hour. Traffic was completely halted in both directions. People were actually stranded along the highway. Seems a guy was pulled over by a state trooper. The guy got out of the vehicle and began waving a gun and pointing it to his head. Thankfully, it ended peacefully with no one hurt.
Although the wall-to-wall news coverage was expected, what really surprised me were the gawkers from a nearby neighborhood who had nothing else better to do than to bring their children to watch the events unfold.
Let me get this straight. There is a mentally deranged individual waving a gun with cops ready to pump him full of lead and you thought it was a good idea to have your kids watch? Lay off the Kool-Aid people.

no, no, he was already pulled over and was beating the crap out of some woman in his truck and someone driving by called it in. the ST was able to get the woman out but the man was...well mental. 3 hours of bad news coverage later, they resolve it.
Yeah, I knew that one of the toll takes saw some blood and alerted the state police.
Yeah, he was pretty mental. He's under a psyc eval at County Hospital. Plus, he's got a whole bunch of charges awaiting him.
But, what is the explanation for the people bringing their kids.
Yeah, the news coverage was horrible. One station went back to regular programing after dude was in handcuffs. A lot of people are bitchng about missing their favorite shows. Sorry, but I would rather watch the stand-0ff with crappy coverage than American Gladiator!
