Well, I had my first shot of the day.
Someone please explain to me why in the hell students will use in text citations for some things and not for others? Or they will use proper in text citations for the first one or two pages and fuck up the rest?
On of my Survey of Law students did this. She properly citied the first two pages of her paper. After that, it was like she had a major brain fart and forgets how to cite for the rest of the paper.
Note to GML: It’s our favorite student who is guilty of this one!!!

- Seeking Solace
- I am a college professor who is fumbling through the chaos of academia, rheumatoid arthritis, working on my PhD and just being a 40 something woman. I used to be a lawyer, which made me a snarky little person. I have a wonderful Husband and a German Shepherd named Junior. They help keep me sane.

Shelly could be right -- also, it is possible that they went to the writing center and the person there told them how to do the citations properly for the first two pages and then told them to do the rest on their own..
It could also be that they wrote the paper with the intention of putting the citations in later but ran out of time.
You both may be right. I am thinking about whether I should dock points or just give her a failing grade for the lack of citations.
Shelly and Inside both have good points. They could have plagiarized second first part, which is why it doesn't have citations. Of course, they might have dutifully worked on the paper for a while, and then finished the rest of it the night before.
