Meet Junior

Posted by Seeking Solace |

This is "Junior", our new pup. Just as the Boy had a pseudonym, so does Junior. Those of you who know me on FB and Twitter know Junior's real name. We named him after a character in one of our favorite movies.

Junior is a German Shepherd mix. We are not entirely sure what the "mix" is. He came from a rescue group here in Elsewhere that was recommended by my friend, Dr. C.  The rescue group find dogs from kill shelters across the state.  Sadly, kill shelters are common in this part of the country.

The rescue group said that not much is know about Junior's background. But, we do think he must have been someone's dog.  He was fostered by a guy who loves German Shepherds, but travel too much to spend time with Junior.

This is the first thing Junior did when he arrived at his new home.

Junior is quite a mush. He loves to be loved. He loves to be outside and is quite inquisitive about everything. He has a very high prey drive. We found that our on a recent hike where he about tore Husband's arm off trying to chase the deer.

It is so nice to have a four-footed friend in our lives again. He is not a replacement for the Boy, just as the Boy was not a replacement for The Dog. Junior is another being to share our love.

And, we are so happy to have him.

Junior is adorable. The first dog I ever had (was the family pet when I was born) was a German Shepard and I have a very special fondness for them.

Enjoy.

Congratulations on your new family member. He looks like a really great dog, and I know he'll make your lives "interesting" for a while.

Awww, what a great guy. So happy for you both. We've had lots of experience with Shepards and their mixes. A pure bred white one when I was a teen, a really smart Shepard/Collie mix when I was in college and our current aging junkyard dog from the pound who is Shepard/Egyptian Hound. They are uniformly great, so it's a wonderful reward for your rescue. Congratulations.

Thanks everyone.

I love GSDs and GSD mixes. We had a pure GSD when I was a kid. As a teen, i had a GSD/Husky mix. The Boy was a GSD/Lab. Now we have Junior. Some think he is a pure GSD whose ears did not perk up.

Aw he looks right at home already! He is a very handsome fella isn't he now? Good for you going through a rescue group. They certainly need all the support they can get. Congratulations on your newest member. Hugs. Tammy
