Only about 1% of my students in all of my classes know about the Jena 6. But, they can tell me all about OJ's latest legal trouble.

Can I assume you've enlightened them? Please tell me they realized they should care about this story.
Prisca: Indeed I did. They are required to read up as much as possible by Monday.
really sad, unfortunately. we are so indoctrinated by the media with celebrity watching that we don't have an opportunity to learn about issues that are affecting those less fortunate.

Holy cow - that makes me very very sad. I am hoping they can do more than recite the AP blurbs when you grill them, and actually show some nerve endings.
ok, I have to admit I had no idea what it was by name. Once I goggled it...I'd heard some passing press on it.
