Murmurs: The Snow, Sleet and Snotekeys Edition

Posted by Seeking Solace |

  • Teaching with laryngitis is now something I can add to my "special skills" list. I remained silent, except for when I had to teach, which gave me enough voice to get through my classes.
  • My voice did return on Friday, but the coughing and runny nose remains. I am still coughing up mucus and blowing snotekeys out my nose. Not fun at all, considering we are entering week three of this crap.
  • No, I have not gone to the doctor...yet. I am getting close to admitting defeat.
  • I would have gone to an Urgent Care Clinic today, but everything is closed because of the weather.
  • We had five inches of snow overnight in Elsewhere*. People around here think it's the end of the word. There was a picture of the bread aisle at a local grocery store where only two or three loaves of bread were left!
  • It is now sleeting, which may freeze overnight. OK, now that's not good. I am more concerned about ice than snow.
  • The Boy's alter ego, Snow Dog, made a brief appearance this morning, bounding playfully in the snow. There was not enough snow for a full performance which includes digging, snowplowing and rolling around on his back in the stuff.
  • Since we are "snow bound" this weekend, I have much work to do. Lots of class and department related stuff. And, I must finish my conference proposal this weekend because it is due on Monday.

*I changed the name of my location to Elsewhere, because of my somewhat paranoia of being "outed". It does fit my "Sarah McLachlan" theme. :)

Isn't it funny how much dogs love the snow? :-) Hope you feel better soon.

My favorite FB status has been a from a guy I went to high school with and now lives down south near the snow--his neighbors are pouring hot water on their cars, steps, etc to get rid of the ice!!

RL: There was a guy using a leaf blower as a snow-blower today in my neighborhood.

We used a leaf blower on the cars. It's nice when the snow is dry and fluffy. but we didn't get sleet last night so -- cleaning up is still not too bad.

Hope you feel better soon! Enjoy the snow with the boy. they are SO funny in the snow. Although I have to say even Beau does not like it when it's over a foot.
